KATTA has grown from being the only knife and axe throwing club in the UK into an ‘umbrella’ association of several affiliated clubs around the country including Essex Back Yard Throwers.
Tomahawk Requirements
A tomahawk throwing activity leader must be a competent individual with a minimum of 7 hours of practical experience, though specific training is strongly encouraged. They must be able to supervise up to three targets, with a maximum of five people per target. If the activity involves more than two targets, a Range Master must be appointed to oversee safety and order. A younger person can be a leader if they possess the necessary skills.
Leader requirements
- Experience:Â A minimum of 7 hours of practical experience in tomahawk throwing.
- Competency:Â Must be a competent individual who regularly participates in the activity.
- Training:Â Undertaking specific training is strongly recommended to understand how to run a safe session.
- Supervision:Â Can supervise a maximum of three targets at once.
- Group size:Â A maximum of five people per target (one throwing, four waiting).Â
Range Master requirements (if more than two targets)
- Role:Â Appointed to have overall control of the range.
- Responsibility:Â Responsible for controlling movement on the range and ensuring those not throwing are not a distraction.
- Supervision:Â Can supervise a range with up to six targets and two activity leaders.Â
